Abortion

I feel that abortion is an extremely controversial topic that still to this day can be debated about. I feel it is a very situational decision that depends solely on the woman's situation in order to be deemed "right" or "wrong". The textbook views abortion as a purposeful termination of a pregnancy before the embryo or fetus is capable of sustaining independent life. The problem I have with this statement is that an infant is not capable of sustaining independent life, so is the textbook agreeing with child murder?
I agree that abortion is right in certain cases such as if a girl/woman is raped or if their life/health is on the line but i do not agree when woman begin using abortion as a contraception method.
I knew a girl from my home town who used abortions as her form of contraception. She didn't see it as a big deal because she didn't have to remember to take a pill daily, apply condoms or other forms of contraception. This angered me, because not only had she terminated more that 5 pregnancies through abortion, she still to this day lives carelessly, not thinking about what she is actually doing.
I do feel strongly in that woman should have the right to access abortion. I believe it falls under woman's rights which we have fought for for quite some time. However, there are other alternatives to abortion that i feel woman should turn to before finalizing their decision to terminate their babies.
