This lecture we learned about the mere definition, trends, transmission and prevention involved with HIV/AIDS.
I found it astounding that 34 Million people in the world live with HIV/AIDS! That it the entire population of Canada. I personally have never been affected by HIV/AIDS however I had a close friend become infected with it because of careless sexual activity. It was a very sad time in her life as well as her family's life because she had to come to realization that it wasn't going to just disappear. I think what got to her the most was the fact that it only took one emotionless to change her life for the worst. I know she would take it back if she could, but is using her mistake and talking about it to the younger generations to help make a difference in their lives. She goes to schools and bible camps and shares her story, raising awareness for young girls and boys. I am continually inspired by her ambition to make a difference during this "shitty" time in her life. She is an inspiration to so many and I hope she knows that what she is doing is changing the lives of so many people in and around our community.

Sexual Dysfunction
This lecture really opened my eyes up to what the true meaning of Sexual Dysfunction really was. I had always stereotyped it to one thing and that was men not being able to obtain an erection but through the content taught in today's lesson I learned what it exactly was.
Sexual Arousal Disorder- The Physiological inability to engage in sexual activity. For men it is called male erectile disorder which is a situational, psychological condition related to performance anxiety. For females it is where they cannot obtain lubrication when they want to.Often it is psychological as well or it is connected with feelings of anger and frustration which eventually turns into resentment.
Orgasmic Disorders- Male or Female's can have orgasmic disorders where they orgasm itself is delayed or absent. Experienced far more frequently in females than in males. For males this can also mean premature ejaculation which can't really be prevented.
Sexual Pain Disorders-
1)Dyspareunia- Experiences by females which involves the experience of intercourse to be painful
2)Vaginismus- Involves the involuntary contraction of the outer third of the vaginal barrel. Often associated with a history of trauma.
3)Vulvodynia- involves vulvo pain particularly chronic burning, irritation and soreness. Not solely considered to be a sexual dysfunction.
Sexual Desire Disorder- Hypoactive- little or no sexual interest or desire. This usually happens to people who can become aroused but simply don't want to.
