- Be Skeptical: Do not accept any unsupported opinion as though it were fact. Be respectful.
- Examine definition of terms: abortion, look at the way terms are used.
- Examine assumption of arguments- If assumptions aren't true then the outcomes aren't.
- Be cautious in drawing conclusions from evidence.
- Consider alternative interpretations of research evidence.
- Consider kinds of evidence- opinion often isn't as worthy as evidence.
- Do not oversimplify- homosexuality is simplified by saying there is a 'homo' gene or its a case of environment.
- Do not overgeneralize- When one woman has an abortion and deals with it easy, it doesn't necessarily mean all women will handle it like that one did.
